Sacramento authorities are examining a shooting incident that broke out on the evening of April 18 at Howe Park at the time law enforcement were dispersing an unsanctioned gathering of multiple hundreds of people.
Prior to the Shooting
Deputies initially got calls about Howe Community Park around 6:30 PM after being notified of people potentially armed with concealed firearms. Soon after, another report was received about an alleged brawl breaking out at Howe Park.
A sheriff's airship conducted an aerial sweep but was unable to locate the reported altercation. Even so, it became clear that a massive group had congregated at Howe Park without any permit or approval.
The Moment Gunfire Erupted
Deputies started clearing the unauthorized gathering by setting up around the park's perimeter and making announcements ordering those gathered to disperse at once. Around 15 get more info minutes were given for people to comply.

Four Gunshot Victims
Ultimately, four victims were discovered with shooting injuries. The victims — consisting of one woman and three men each apparently in their mid to late twenties — were transported to nearby hospitals. Doctors and nurses indicated that two victims sustained immediate injuries, one victim's injuries were classified as moderate, and one sustained minor gunshot wounds. As of last report, all four were in stable condition.
The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department assisted at the location and aided in treating shooting victims on location.
The Investigation
The primary shooting scene seemed to have happened near the Cottage Way side of the park adjacent to the Home Depot on the 2200 block of Howe Avenue. Crime scene investigators discovered extra shell casings on Cottage Way. Projectile impacts were observed in the wrought iron perimeter fencing bordering the Home Depot. These discoveries confirmed that a second shooter had been discharging rounds toward the south from along Cottage Way targeting the Home Depot. The nearby Home Depot was put under lockdown while the scene was active. Crime scene personnel kept processing evidence through the early morning hours.
Arrests Made
Reports confirmed via scanner audio established that a Kia connected to the shooting was pulled over in Solano County California. Four detainees were held for questioning. Sacramento law enforcement were en route to collect those detained to pick up those detained for questioning. Footage analyzed by investigators made clear that the shooting involved two separate gunmen.
